Gazprom ID
Through the Gazprom ID unified authentication system, users sign into Premier, Rutube, Yappy, and other Gazprom partners. Every SMS-based login is a cost on Gazprom's side. With hundreds of thousands of logins per day, that adds up to millions of rubles a month.
PROBLEM
Nearly half a million SMS messages a week — that's what user authentication through Gazprom ID costs. It's not getting cheaper: users are used to SMS and see no reason to change. The goal — reduce costs without breaking the familiar flow.
SOLUTION
Push-based login
SMS is expensive because every authorization is a separate cost. Push is free: the user receives a notification on screen and confirms login with one tap. No SMS is sent.

But users are used to SMS and won't switch without a reason. So between entering the phone number and sending the code, an intermediate screen appears — explaining the benefit and requesting notification permission. Declined — back to the familiar SMS flow. Accepted — token received, all future authorizations at zero cost.

Fast login
Push reduces the cost. Biometrics eliminates it entirely — no code, no SMS, no push. The user verifies their identity locally on the device, the server spends nothing.

Setup happens once. After the first authorization, an offer appears to save the account. Biometrics enabled — the next login takes one tap and costs Gazprom nothing.
